The Roma full-back who returned to the capital underwent a check-up by Prof Lempeinen following the Achilles tendon operation last July. Here are his words
Smiling, but without the desire to force the times. Leonardo Spinazzola returned to Rome on a flight from Helsinki in the late afternoon after a visit to Finland by Professor Lempeinen. And he can finally breathe a sigh of relief. Now he can begin to increase the loads and try to return to the field as he enters the end of the season, perhaps with a call-up already for the end of the month.

Accompanied by the Roma doctor, Costa, at Fiumicino Spinazzola said: “Everything went well, I’m very happy. To be back before the end of the season? Let’s see step by step, let’s take it easy.” For the Roma full-back, now, after so much darkness, there is only light: “I thank those who were close to me, but it’s not over yet. Closed one page, now another opens up”. His wife Miriam and children Mattia and Sofia await him at home and with them, finally, Spinazzola can toast to the closure of the most difficult phase after the tendon operation last July. A few more weeks and he’ll put it all behind him. Without haste, but with a smile.
