The Blaugrana team has twelve points more than Real Madrid, second classified, when there are twelve games left for the end of the domestic competition

If the merengue team does not fail, the closest date in which Xavi’s men will be able to sing the alirón will be the weekend of May 20 and 21

Day to take out the calculator and open the calendar. FC Barcelona delivered a champion’s blow to the League with its soothing victory against Real Madrid in Xavi Hernández’s first clásico at the Spotify Camp Nou and ended matchday 26 of the domestic competition with a 12-point margin over their eternal rival. The goals from Sergi Roberto and Franck Kessie ‘manufactured’ a very important victory in terms of spirit and football.

The accounts are very simple. Barça has twelve more points than Real Madrid, second place, when there are twelve games left (that is, 36 points at stake) for the end of the League. Since the ‘goal average’ is in favor of the white team –3-1 for the whites in the first round, 2-1 in favor of the Catalans yesterday–, Xavi’s men can afford the ‘luxury’ of losing three games and tie another. In other words, Madrid cannot fail and needs, at least, that the leader does so on four occasions.

In the event that Madrid does not make any mistakes until the end of the season, something unlikely considering that since the World Cup he has missed 15 points out of the 36 he has played (six victories, four defeats and two draws), the closest date in which FC Barcelona will be able to sing the alirón will be the weekend of May 20 and 21, in which Real Sociedad Sociedad will visit the Camp Nou in the commitment corresponding to day 35 of the championship.

It is very possible, however, that both one and the other leave points along the way. Especially Madrid, which is still alive in the Champions League. If the whites fail, Barça could recover the state throne in the match against Osasuna at the Camp Nou (matchday 33) or in the derby against Spanish (day 34); if they are the culés the ones that loosen, on the other hand, they must wait for one of the last three appointments on the calendar to be proclaimed champions. We review the calendar of Catalans and Madrid until the end of the course.
