Heidi Klum has always been quite open when it comes to private matters. In a recent interview, she discussed her marriage with Tom Kaulitz, hinting at the dynamics of their intimate life.
The 53-year-old model and “Germany’s Next Topmodel” host shared her thoughts on staying connected in a relationship, particularly about the frequent physical interactions with her husband, 36. When asked how she keeps her marriage with the Tokio Hotel musician fresh, she humorously stated, “We definitely ‘train’ a lot together,” laughing and clarifying, “the kind of training without equipment.”
Intimacy Through Connection
According to Klum, regular ‘training’ fosters a unique bond. “It’s hard to explain, but souls connect differently than just bodies. Hearts and souls unite in distinctive ways,” she explained. This insight emphasizes her belief that emotional connectivity is crucial, hinting that such interactions help maintain their romantic relationship. Klum sees herself as the more romantic partner, noting that women, in her view, tend to be more romantic overall.
On Age Gaps and Marriage Challenges
The age difference between Klum and Kaulitz has garnered public attention since their relationship began. Klum, however, seems unfazed. “I look at my husband and think: ‘He might be getting a bit too old for me,'” she joked. Despite their age gap, Klum believes Kaulitz ages well, showcasing her confidence in their bond.
One of the biggest challenges in their marriage lies in their careers. “It’s tough when you have a husband who is often on tour and I am shooting a show in New York for five weeks,” Klum explained. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they spent every day together with Klum’s children in Los Angeles, which brought them closer.
Growing Together During the Pandemic
Klum noted that during the lockdown, they became even more interconnected. When the world began to reopen, facing the possibility of separation became daunting. “It was hard to just say: ‘Okay, goodbye, see you in three weeks,'” she shared. Yet, they strive to maintain closeness, with Kaulitz often visiting her on set, and Klum expressing excitement about joining him on tour.
In a light-hearted moment, she added that she might be the enthusiastic fan at his concerts, humorously stating, “I’ll be the fangirl in the front row lifting my shirt and throwing my bra!”
A Blended Family
Before marrying Kaulitz, Klum was previously married to singer Seal, with whom she shares three children: sons Henry and Johan, and daughter Lou. Her oldest child, Leni, came from a relationship with Formula 1 manager Flavio Briatore and was later adopted by Seal. Klum’s expansive family adds to the dynamics of her relationship with Kaulitz.
As of 2019, Klum and Kaulitz have navigated the complexities of marriage and family, continually finding ways to keep their bond strong and their love alive.
