There is only one correct topic to start this weekend overview with. The Drenthe Starters Day.

It will take place on Saturday in Hoogeveen. During this starters day, starting entrepreneurs can participate in various workshops and presentations. There is also a ‘knowledge square’ where, among others, the Tax Authorities and the Chamber of Commerce are located. It is the first time in 4 years that the event takes place again. The program focuses on starting as an entrepreneur, but is aimed at all entrepreneurs who have started in the past 5 years.

Not only entrepreneurs can learn something this weekend. Children can learn all about sheep and their enemy: the wolf on Saturday at the animal shelter in Beilen. For example, the children learn what herds of sheep do in cities. And they can craft their own sheep to take home. Children can participate for free between 1.30 pm and 3.30 pm.

From the sheep to the goat. The second bock beer tour will take place in Westerveld on Saturday. The tour starts and ends at Gasterij Frederiksoord. During the tour, the participants pass various restaurants in the municipality. There they are served bok beers with matching snacks. Transport is arranged: a bus transports the participants from restaurant to restaurant in the evening. Start is at 6:45 PM.

If you can’t get enough of all those bock beers and snacks, you can visit museum De Wemme in Zuidwolde on Saturday. There, the season will be concluded from 11 a.m. with ‘Feast on Slaughter Day’. This consists of all kinds of culinary and cultural activities in the museum and on the forecourt. For example, there is a butcher who shows how a pig is boned. And several local entrepreneurs are present to taste their products and to tell how the products were made. The slaughter day lasts until 4 p.m.

Birds of prey also like to tear up meat. Staatsbosbeheer will be holding a two-hour bike ride through the Drents-Friese Wold on Saturday from 1.30 pm with a bird expert to look for birds of prey. Among other things, he shares information about the different species, such as where you are most likely to spot them, how to recognize them in the air and how they devour their prey.

Prey will also be devoured at Mensinge in Roden. On Saturday afternoon, Mensinge is all about hunting. Traditionally, the Soestdijk hunting association holds its slip hunt with horses and many dogs in the vicinity of the manor. At around 1 p.m., the hunting horn sounds as a signal that the slip hunt is about to start. By the way, nothing is torn. In the past, foxes or other game were hunted, but that is no longer the case today. Before the hunt, the slip puller draws a scent trail through the landscape with a cloth soaked in fox urine. Once the dogs have caught the scent, they run, followed by the crew of riders who keep the dogs together or retrieve them when they are off the track.

No birds of prey, sheep, goats or pigs that are boned. At most a dog. It is quiet at home. Or well. Perhaps not in the living rooms in Zuidwolde. The living room festival will be held there on Sunday at 18 locations. Various musicians and bands perform in different living rooms, the library in Zuidwolde and the primary school in Erflanden. The living rooms are open from 1 pm to 6 pm. Each session lasts 45 minutes, with half an hour in between sessions. Each location will be played three times.

For households who prefer to listen to music outdoors, the Sunday Brass in the Jacobuskerk Rolde may offer a solution. During this new festival, the Klein Orkest will play Rolde, together with another brass ensemble: Friday Brass from Assendelft. The Sunday Brass starts at 3 p.m.

Oh yes, Sinterklaas also arrives in Drenthe. But you can read all that in the article below:
