It remains a mystery why the Meilandjes throw their successful reality series on SBS 6 in the garbage. Why do they say no to Talpa’s barrels? “Maybe they got a painful offer.”

Nowadays you can celebrate your success in prime time, but the Meilandjes are fed up with it. They have seen it with all those cameras following them and are therefore stopping their Chateau Meiland program. There will only be a Christmas special and then the screaming and ‘wines, wines, wines’ will be over.

New TV family

The big question is: why would you throw away such a lucrative TV contract, especially in view of Maxime Meiland, who is only 29 years old and at first glance can’t really do anything else?

The painful thing is that Talpa immediately said this at his press presentation this week fully committed on a new TV family, namely the flamboyant Bogaart family. “I think it is also a big statement for the Meilandjes: if you continue to make things difficult, then we now have the Boogaaartjes,” said Private Boss Evert Santegoeds in the podcast. Strictly Private.

Conspiracy theory

Perhaps this is why the Meilandjes left, according to co-host Jordi Versteegden. “The bosses of Talpa said at that presentation: ‘We have to work with the producers’, who were also in the room, ‘to look at a future-proof order, because it is all becoming more expensive.’”

He continues: “It is a conspiracy theory, but it could be that SBS 6 has said: ‘We want to continue with you, but for less money and we want to work with more families.’ That SBS 6 would have said: ‘Yes, Meilandjes, we will soon also have the Boogaartjes and we will also come with Oh Oh Den Haag.’”

Sensible

If that is correct, then Evert agrees with the top management of Talpa. “I would think it would be wise, because the Meiland family has put the knife to Talpa’s throat. They really capture the main prize and for me the fatigue has long since set in.”

This puts him on the same page as Johan Derksen. “The Meilandjes have a target group, but they have never been able to fascinate me,” said the TV mustache last night in Today Inside.
