The project, the first ever in Italy, is immediately operational: it includes eleven specialists from various medical areas (and the rossoblù sporting faith) available to all members, including youth players, and their families
It is called “We Care Genoa” and is the name of the project developed by the rossoblù club, under the coordination of the club’s health manager, Alessandro Corsini and professor Matteo Bassetti, which brought together eleven Genoese medical excellences, all sharing a passion for the colors of the Grifone, who will have the task of protecting the health not only of the rossoblù footballers, including the youth teams, but also of their respective families. A multidisciplinary committee of experts who first of all want to help promote correct lifestyles throughout the rossoblù world. An ambitious project, which yesterday also received the applause of the CEO of the Lega Serie A, De Siervo, who underlined how “football can also generate an extraordinary force capable of generating strength, culture and attention towards people. Therefore the Lega Calcio supports this initiative with conviction, capable of inspiring the entire Italian football movement”. Precisely in consideration of the desire to go beyond those who are the traditional specialists of a footballer’s sporting activity, the “team” of doctors also includes specialists from those areas not usually directly involved in issues related to football: including, therefore, the specialties of otolaryngology, cardiovascular diseases, paediatrics, neonatology and gynecology as well as obviously infectious diseases, which is headed by Professor Bassetti himself.

This is only the first step of an even more ambitious project, which aims to involve the entire Genoa fan base in terms of prevention, also taking advantage of the support of the Casa della Salute, which has been a medical partner of the Genoa club for years. The hope is to be able to transform this initiative into a national-level project, with the aim of organizing an educational conference promoted by Genoa on the topic of longevity in 2027.
