But the ruling for Depp is not necessarily against women, Emma Jaspaert, researcher in domestic violence at KU Leuven, told VTM NIEUWS.
She sees that the trial can help men come out with their stories of family violence. “One by one they say: if Johnny Depp can experience something like this, then it is not so embarrassing that I also experienced it. I think that in itself is hopeful.”
