Rob Jetten hopes to eventually become our Prime Minister in 2026 and he and RTL are preparing for that. “Does that still play a role, the first gay prime minister in the Tower?”

It is a complicated formation: D66 and CDA are now sitting around the table with the VVD, but the three of them do not constitute a majority. Yet Rob Jetten still hopes that he will become the new Prime Minister of our country in 2026. In any case, that would be the most obvious thing to do given the election results.

“Your friend?”

Reporter Jaïr Ferwerda visits Rob for RTL Tonight and asks him how he woke up the day after the election. “You wake up and then your new life has begun, I guess, right, or not?”

Rob then says: “Yes, yes, I mainly woke up next to someone who wanted to know from me: what if you really become the greatest?”

Jaïr: “Your friend?”

Rob: “Yes, and what does that mean for our private lives?”

Homosexual

It is unclear whether the alleged relationship troubles of Rob and his Argentinian ‘hockey hunk’ have anything to do with this. In any case, Rob’s homosexual side is special, says Jaïr. “Does that still play a role, the first gay prime minister in the Tower? Do you think there is something liberal about it that makes you think: yes! Or not?”

Rob concludes: “That is of course super cool, just like the fact that it is about time for the first woman in that Tower, but it is not something that I was or am very concerned with now. I did notice that it became a very big thing in the international media: young and openly gay.”
