The real estate group Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW), which is behind the Hamburg-Überseequartier, has announced the long-awaited opening date of the shopping center.

The area with areas for retail, restaurants and leisure is scheduled to open its doors on April 8th, URW announced on Thursday evening. The operator has made significant progress in the commissioning process and the project’s technical building equipment systems have now reached the final test and inspection phase.

The opening had previously had to be postponed several times due to technical problems. The shopping center was originally scheduled to open in April last year. Further difficulties cost URW an estimated additional 100 million euros, it was said in September.

The area that is now opening is 94 percent leased. The tenants include the men’s fashion outfitter Anson’s, the British shoe supplier Dr. Martens, the fashion retailer Breuninger and fashion chain stores such as H&M, JD Sports and Mango.
