Tonight the province of Drenthe will visit Diever to give text and explanation about the wolf in the area together with the municipality of Westerveld. Initially there was room for seventy people to attend the meeting. That turned out not to be enough, now 150 people are welcome during the meeting at eight o’clock.
There have been many wolf attacks in the area in recent times. City residents are concerned about this. That is why Westerveld decided to send a fire letter to the province. Tonight the province will explain the situation with the wolves.
Alderman Henk Doeven indicated earlier that he would like more clarity about the theme. “What can the municipality do and where can the province intervene?” He expects a busy evening, with both supporters and opponents. “And I hope so too. That’s the only way to have a good conversation.”
Doeven himself will be present on behalf of the municipality, together with mayor Rikus Jager. Deputy Henk Jumelet represents the province of Drenthe in the conversation. Former State Secretary Pieter van Geel is on site on behalf of the National Consultation Wolf (LOW). Residents may ask questions during the meeting.
