Botman rode the final 1000 meters of the National Championship sprint against Hilversum’s Merijn Scheperkamp. The second fastest time was enough for De Andijker to be crowned Dutch champion.
The national title allows him to participate in the World Sprint Championships next week, also in Heerenveen. Botman thus takes the last ticket for that tournament, as Jenning de Boo and Joep Wennemars previously received two designation spots.
