West Flemish aid workers from B-fast team back from Turkey

Nurse Ward Vandenbussche from Tielt and team leader Matthijs Samyn from Roeselare, among others, are back in our country today. For two weeks Matthijs was team leader in the field hospital of the B-Fast team. He led a team of more than 100 people. The field hospital was set up next to an existing hospital in southern Turkey.

The team cared for more than 1000 patients. Victims of the earthquakes, but also other patients who have nowhere to go for medical care.

Ward Vandenbussche, who is a nurse at the Sint-Andries hospital in Tielt, is also back home. For him it was his first mission abroad.

The field hospital in Turkey remains operational. Another team from B-fast will now relieve them.
