Timo Werner made a good debut for Tottenham Hotspur. The striker, on loan from RB Leipzig, prepared Rodrigo Bentancur’s second goal for Spurs in a 2-2 (1-2) draw at English record champions Manchester United on Sunday. Werner joined the North London club last week on loan until the end of the season. He made his last appearance in the Premier League on May 7, 2022 in the Chelsea FC jersey.

The 27-year-old played on the left offensive flank for South Korean Heung-min Son, who was at the Asian Cup. Werner had the first chance with his header (11th minute). Shortly before the break a shot went just past the post (45′). Shortly after the break, Werner brought on his team-mate Bentancur, who made it 2-2 (46′), before being substituted after 80 minutes.

Rasmus Højlund (3rd) and Marcus Rashford (40th) had scored for the “Red Devils” in the first half. Brazilian Richarlison (19th) headed the score 1-1 for the “Spurs” after a corner. Tottenham remain fifth in the table, Man United are seventh. Surprise team Aston Villa also couldn’t get past a 0-0 draw at Everton FC and missed out on second place with 43 points.
