Werder wins a top game and takes over the top of the table

Düsseldorf (dpa) – SV Werder Bremen has impressively ended the successful series of leaders FC Schalke 04 and taken the lead in the 2nd Bundesliga.

The North Germans, who have not been defeated for six games, won the top game in the Veltins Arena 4-1 (2-0) and are in first place with 57 points three rounds before the end of the season, ahead of the Revierelf, who are second with 56 points.

The goals for Werder in the Schalke Arena, which was sold out for the first time in more than two years, were scored by Ilia Gruev (9th minute), Niclas Füllkrug (26th) and Marvin Ducksch (51st/53rd). Simon Terodde (88th) scored for the hosts. For the guests it was the sixth win in a row at Schalke.

HSV maintains chances of promotion
