Werder Bremen’s Marvin Ducksch: Interest “I’m happy of course”

Rumors about Union & Co.

Marvin Ducksch is currently on everyone’s lips at Werder Bremen – not only because of his strong performances, but also in relation to the rumors surrounding him. Union Berlin, PAOK Thessaloniki and FC Granada were recently traded as interested parties, and even Atalanta BC in the speculative Italian “Tuttosport”. When asked about this, the 28-year-old said in an interview with “sports1“: “Of course I’m pleased that interest is shown, but I still have a contract here and I’m very happy.”

Ducksch said he couldn’t deny that it was nice to read his name in connection with European Cup teams like Atalanta: “It also spurs me on even more.” But he emphasized again: “I can imagine anything. I signed for three years regardless of whether we get promoted or not. I am very happy here.”

Marvin Ducksch can leave Werder Bremen with an opt-out clause

A departure seemed unlikely before, because Ducksch had recently emphasized in an interview with “Bild”: “I have big goals with the club. If it doesn’t work out this year, then so be it. I didn’t sign for three years for nothing. If I had planned to leave in the summer, I would have signed for a year.”

According to the “Deichstube”, the native of Dortmund, who has a contract with Werder until 2024, could leave the Hanseatic League in the summer with an exit clause. This should amount to 5.5 million euros – and would thus be the highest sum that has been paid for Ducksch so far. The Bremen team took him from Hannover 96 in the summer of 2021 for 3.5 million euros.

But Ducksch also said that not even the rise, which it looks like more and more after the performances of the Bremen team in the past few weeks, is decisive for whether he stays: “If it’s the rise, then I’ll be happy to take it. But I don’t have to be in the top league to prove it to someone. i know what i can do I haven’t been able to show it at the top level yet. But who knows what else will happen?”
