Niclas Füllkrug’s time on the island at West Ham United will probably end this summer. The Premier League relegated club is reportedly not interested in keeping the center forward. The international player’s impending departure fueled rumors of a return to the Bundesliga. But he probably won’t be joining Werder Bremen again.

After the “Deichstube” recently reported that Werder Bremen and Niclas Füllkrug have now had “initial discussions” to explore a possible collaboration, according to “kicker” a return is now almost off the table. Accordingly, it is “rather unrealistic” that the center forward, who is currently still under contract with West Ham United, will play on the Weser again.

Füllkrug comes from the Werder Bremen youth team. The 33-year-old then played for the green-whites again between 2019 and 2023. Füllkrug then moved on to Londo after a season at Borussia Dortmund. However, due to bad luck with injuries, he never really arrived in England. At the beginning of the year Füllkrug was loaned out to AC Milan. However, in 20 appearances for the Rossoneri, the 24-time national player only managed one goal.

Werder Bremen: Filling jug demand probably cannot be met

The Hanover native’s contract with West Ham United runs until 2028. After the Londoners were recently relegated from the Premier League, the signs point to a separation. After “Bild” had rumored that the English would let their transfer flop go for free, it is now becoming apparent that the English second division team still wants to see a few bills.

According to “kicker”, the traditional club is currently asking for a transfer fee in the mid-single-digit range. Too much money for the people of Bremen – although, according to the information from the trade magazine, Füllkrug was definitely considering returning to the Hanseatic city.

So far there are no signs that the Hammers’ demand could change.
