Werder Bremen reacted to Michael Zetterer’s departure and hired Karl Hein from FC Arsenal. The 23-year-old goalkeeper comes to the green-whites by the end of the season and is to become a representative of the new number one million bakery. Hein, which was presented as part of the 2019 transfer market calendar, is the first Estonian in the Bremen club history.
Hein moved from Estonia to Arsenals from Estonia in 2018, where he went through his football training including two borrowing to FC Reading and Real Valladolid. Last season he was on the pitch in 31 games in Laliga, conceded 68 goals and kept a white vest five times. For the professionals of the Gunners, he made two games in the EFL Cup 20222. Heins market value amounts to 3 million euros.
“Karl is a young goalkeeper with a lot of potential. He has already been able to gain a lot of gaming experience for his age. In the past, he has worked at Arsenal at the highest level in team training. He is a good and open type and we are convinced that he fits our group and revitalized the competition,” said Werder’s goalkeeper coach Christian Vander. Peter Niemeyer, Head of License Area, added: “We are happy that we were able to close the open position, which was created by Michael Zetterer’s departure, so quickly with Karl. We hired a keeper with him that was able to convince in Laliga last year and also showed his qualities in the National team. So we completed our goalkeeper group at a high level.”
“For me, the decision was very easy to change Werder. I didn’t have to think long with such a traditional club with great fans and a nice stadium. I am pleased to get started in Bremen now,” said Hein, who is the third newcomer.
