Market value quintupled in 2021/22
Maik Nawrocki will not return to Werder Bremen next season. The homegrown player, who has been playing for the Green-Whites since the age of five, is currently on loan to the Polish first division club Legia Warsaw, including a purchase option. Its sports director Jacek Zielinski confirmed the online portal “Interior Sports”: “We are interested in buying Maik and will take the option.”
According to reports, 1.5 million euros are due for the fixed transfer of the defensive specialist, who can be used both in central defense and in central midfield – Legia initially spent more on a new signing. Nawrocki is seeded in tenth place in the Ekstraklasa and has made 29 appearances this season, including eight in Champions League qualifiers and the Europa League. Since the start of the season, his market value has improved from 175,000 to 900,000 euros and should continue to rise when he changes at the end of the season.

However, it is not certain whether Nawrocki, who also has Polish citizenship in addition to German and played through all the youth national teams there, will continue to play for the capital city club beyond the summer. Interest from Bayer 04 Leverkusen or Eintracht Frankfurt was reported before the turn of the year, and a resale with Plus is definitely an option for Legia, the report says. “Other clubs could reach for the boy in the foreseeable future. There are no details yet, but there is preliminary interest,” Zielinski also confirmed.
