Werder Bremen: Justin Njinmah “in the expanded field of vision” of the DFB

Could play for Nigeria

Seven scorers in 20 games, recently regularly in the starting eleven, market value has almost quadrupled within a very short time: The record of Hamburg-born Justin Njinmah since his return from BVB II to Werder Bremen last summer is arousing desire. According to a media report, the Nigerian association is courting the 23-year-old right-footed player, at the same time the DFB confirmed its interest – and Werder also wants to use its offensive power for a long-term future.

Njinmah has Nigerian roots through his father and could therefore play for the African Cup runner-up. According to information from “Sport Bild”, the Super Eagles are trying to convince the 1.85 meter tall right winger. But the DFB also focuses on offensive power. “It hasn’t gone unnoticed by us that Justin Njinmah has developed very well. The player is in our broader field of vision,” explained Managing Director Sport Andreas Rettig to the newspaper. Njinmah, who trained at Eimsbütteler TV, had not yet played for either association at the youth level, but is reportedly leaning towards Germany. However, it is extremely unlikely that he could still play a role for national coach Julian Nagelsmann’s national team with a view to the European Championships in the summer. For the time after the tournament in his own country, the Bremen player could become a candidate for the A selection if his performance is consistent.

Nothing is officially known about the length of the attacker’s contract on the Weser, the last extension of Njinmah’s working paper took place in June 2023. The Bundesliga club, which can still dream of Europe thanks to the 23-year-old’s scorer, is currently only four points behind sixth place ( to the table), wants to start discussions with Njinmah’s agency Tenet Football about expanding the cooperation in the coming weeks. “Justin Njinmah has developed really well. We see him with us in the future too,” explained Bremen’s head of licenses Clemens Fritz when asked.
