SV Werder Bremen announces completion: As expected, the Spaniard Chuki is moving to the Weser on a free transfer. The Green-Whites are hoping that their new addition will give them more drive and creativity on the offensive.

For the second time this summer, Werder Bremen has struck on the transfer market – and once again signed a player with an expiring contract.

Like French striker Kenny Quetant before him, Chuki is also coming to the Hanseatic League on a free transfer. The 22-year-old was unable to agree on an extension with Real Valladolid, after which numerous clubs became aware of the high-quality technician and sensed a bargain, including FC Schalke 04, VfB Stuttgart, RB Leipzig and Hamburger SV.

But Bremen ultimately won the contract. “I am happy and convinced that Werder is the best possible club for me and the right step for my career. I am grateful for the trust they have placed in me and hope that I can help the club to develop further. It was a very well-considered decision,” said Chuki about his move.

Werder new signing sorted out by former club

Last season, Chuki collected seven goals and eight assists in 34 second division appearances for Valladolid. After negotiations for an extension failed, he was sorted out.

At SVW, the playmaker should provide new impetus. “We are very pleased that we were able to win Chuki for Werder. He is a really good footballer who mainly played centrally in midfield on offense, but can also appear in the wing positions. He has a good score in La Liga 2 this season with 15 points in 34 appearances. I am sure that he will help us with his qualities,” Werder coach Daniel Thioune was quoted as saying.

In addition to the two new faces Chuki and Quetant, the 15th place in the table moved. The previous Bundesliga season also had the option to buy goalkeeper Karl Hein, who will replace Mio Backhaus, who moved to Freiburg, as number one.
