Bundesliga promoted Werder Bremen is apparently facing an early contract extension with striker Niclas Füllkrug.

“We’re on the right track there,” said Clemens Fritz, head of professional football and scouting at the Hanseatic League, in a media round on Wednesday.

According to the former national player, there is nothing to announce at the moment, but that could change in the next few days.

The 29-year-old striker’s contract with the North Germans expires at the end of the season. In the past second division season, Füllkrug contributed 19 goals to SV Werder’s immediate return to the Bundesliga.
