Wendy van Dijk can save her son Sem a lot of scorn laughs by being honest, but she lets him struggle in the musical swamp. What does she think of his new cover?
The 22-year-old Sem van Dijk, the Canta son by Wendy van Dijk and Xander de Buisonjé, has been making attempts to break through musically for years, but it doesn’t really want to go smoothly. A few weeks ago, the somewhat spastic -looking Sem put itself quite ahead with a cover From the Frank Boeijen classic tell me it is not.
“Go well!”
It has yielded Sem a lot of spot. Weekblad Party asks his mother Wendy about it: “As an artist, your 22-year-old son Sem is taking his first steps in the showbiz. On Instagram it was recently seen that he tells me that it is not so from Frank Boeijen. How is Sem?”
Wendy then says that she is very proud of her son: “Very good. He is in the last year of the Herman Brood Academy and will discover which way he wants to go.”
Well, maybe the side of background singer at village festivals is a good one. But then with autotune.
Dancing
What talent does Wendy actually have, in addition to reading the autocue? Dancing, she says. “Dancing is just my biggest passion, a common thread in my life. From childhood, acting and presenting have come out of dancing. Dancing has brought me a lot because you get to know yourself very well.”
“It is a kind of source of joy, music, movement, that is healthy for you anyway. You also make a substance that makes you happy.”
