SV Elversberg has apparently found a successor for Ole Book, who moved to Borussia Dortmund. As “Sky” reports, Josef Welzmüller will be the technical director of the promotion candidate. According to the pay-TV broadcaster, the 36-year-old’s commitment will be officially announced this week.
Welzmüller was a professional for SpVgg Unterhaching in the 3rd league and regional league for ten years before ending his active career in 2024. In the 2023/24 season, the Munich native was also technical director for the then third division team and finished the season in ninth place. Since then he has been without a job.
Book left the club at the end of March to succeed Sebastian Kehl as sports director at BVB. The 40-year-old was previously sports director at SV Elversberg since 2018 and sports director from 2023. Under his leadership, the Saarland team went from being a regional league team to a top second division team with promotion ambitions.
