Welsh councilor resigns after being told he is Banksy | Abroad

Gannon still carries a big ‘I’m not Banksy’ button on his lapel, but people still think he’s the world-famous graffiti artist. The button was to no avail, as Gannon has stopped his political work due to the rumours. In his letter of resignation, he wrote: “As you may know, it has been repeatedly claimed that I am not who I say I am, but that I am the artist Banksy. This accusation undermines my ability to properly perform the job of a councilor.”

Although Gannon is active in the same locations as Bansky, he states that he is really not the well-known artist. To avoid controversy and hassle in the political arena, Gannon decided to resign. He is not sure who started the rumours, but he suspects it could be an earlier political opponent.
