Today we still have to work hard. While the east of the country has to brace itself for thunder, hail and code yellow, fortunately things are improving. After a soaking wet Thursday and Friday, the sun will break through this weekend. Next week we may even reach summer values of 25 degrees.
Wednesday starts friendly, but that peace is short-lived. This afternoon the weather will change rapidly and cumulus clouds will grow into heavy showers with thunder, hail and strong gusts of wind.
The emphasis is on the eastern half of the Netherlands, for which code yellow applies. Between showers it will be a maximum of 18 degrees. Tonight the heaviest showers will pass through Limburg and calm will return.
Soaking wet evening
Thursday will start sunny, after which some – less heavy – showers will develop in the east. In the rest of the country it will remain mainly dry in the afternoon. However, this dry break is short-lived: in the evening and night a new front will pass and it will rain heavily.
It is also gray and wet on Friday morning. The long-awaited turnaround does not occur until the afternoon. The rain zone moves into Germany and the sun breaks through from the west. With 18 or 19 degrees and a strong wind it still feels chilly, but the worst is over.
Finally summer weather
Dry weather will prevail from the weekend onwards. An occasional shower cannot be ruled out on Saturday, but the sun often makes an appearance and the mercury will climb towards 20 degrees. Next week there is a good chance of warm and sunny weather. If the weather models are right, the 25 degree limit will finally be in sight.
