Show jumper Philipp Weishaupt missed out on winning the Global Champions Tour in Valkenswaard. The 37-year-old from Riesenbeck was only beaten by Michael Pender in the 300,000 euro test.

In the jump-off, Weishaupt was slower than the Irishman on Calais with his flawless ride on Coby. Weishaupt received a bonus of 60,000 euros and Pender 100,000 euros.

A total of nine couples had reached the jump-off. Among them was Hans-Dieter Dreher from Eimeldingen on Elysium, who finished sixth overall after a drop.

Valkenswaard was the twelfth of 15 stages in the series. Christian Ahlmann from Marl continues to lead the overall standings ahead of Pieter Devos from Belgium. Ahlmann finished eleventh on Dominator in Valkenswaard.
