Adela (57) from Julianadorp cannot believe her luck. At the World Weightlifting Championships over 35 in Orlando, she not only became world champion, but also broke the world record. “I’m so happy.”

Toughest match ever
According to Diana, the match was “truly awful” and the toughest match of her life. “The atmosphere among all participants was not pleasant. Everyone tried to take me out of my focus.” But, the 57-year-old weightlifter continues, also without result. And as it turns out: she came first in her age category and broke the world record. “I really got the best out of myself yesterday.”

It remains to be seen for daughter Diana. It’s her turn next Thursday. Until then, she’s having a great time in Orlando: “I’m enjoying myself here with all my sports friends and having the time of my life.” She will do her utmost for the best possible result. Something her mother Adela has complete confidence in.
