Wedding in a dinosaur suit: Bennie and Jantine tie the knot

A striking wedding with a lot of attention at the Eindhoven city hall on Tuesday morning. Bennie de Wit and Jantine Kneepkens got married in an inflatable dinosaur suit. “For us, this is not our real wedding day, but a formality. We wanted to poke fun at it a bit,” says the newly married Bennie in the radio program Afslag Zuid at Omroep Brabant.

Not only Bennie and Jantine walked as an inflatable dinosaur, the two witnesses also walked towards the town hall in this way. “It was still exciting for a while. We didn’t know if we would get in like that. The first thing we encountered was a security guard, but he immediately freaked out and wanted to take a picture with us.”

“I had to take off the suit before saying yes.”

The extraordinary registrar also had no problems with the striking outfits. “She had to find out whether it was allowed this way. That turned out not to be entirely the case. Before saying yes, the suit had to be taken off, because then you have to be recognizable,” Bennie explains.

But how did they come up with this idea? “We feel like we will have our real wedding day next Saturday. Then we are also dressed completely chicly. Getting married on location was not possible during the weekend, so we decided to get officially married first, although we do not see that as our real wedding day.”

“She had already ordered the suits before I had finished speaking.”

Bennie wanted to do something special for the formal wedding. “I suggested this to my girlfriend, er my wife. I still have to get used to it,” says Bennie, laughing. He showed Jantine a YouTube video of people walking around in these dino suits. Because it is not the case that neither of them have anything special with dinosaurs. “She immediately liked it idea and had already ordered the suits on the internet before I had spoken my mind.”

They have already had many reactions to their dinosaur wedding. “Yes, a lot of people find it very funny or crazy. And that’s completely fine. We don’t take life too seriously.”
