The Endurance World Championship will be divided into eight rounds in 2024: Qatar, Austin and Interlagos enter, Imola in place of Monza

The World Endurance calendar for 2024 has been revealed: eight races in eight different countries, with Italy still the protagonist and the 24 Hours of Le Mans as the undisputed queen race, in its usual time slot in mid-June. Big news, however, in terms of circuits: in fact, Sebring and Portimao come out, while the Qatar it becomes the opening stage on 2 March 2024. Two circuits that have already hosted WEC races in the past are back: the Circuit of the Americas in Austin and the Interlagos racetrack in Brazil. The Italian stage has been confirmed, but its spatial and temporal location will change: it will take place in Imola in April, no longer in July after Le Mans.
The Lmp2s disappear

In addition to the new calendar, the WEC also confirmed the disappearance of the Lmp2 class from the World Championship: the continuous increase in Hypercars and the arrival of GT3s instead of GTEs in 2024 has made this measure necessary. In fact, the landing of is expected in the premier class Alpines, BMWs and Lamborghinis, as well as the possibility of seeing Isotta Fraschini and some additional customer cars from Porsche and Cadillac. The Lmp2 cars will continue to compete in continental series such as the European and Asian Le Mans Series and will have 15 reserved seats at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the only race in the World Championship where they will still be admitted.
