Weber takes Javelin title, Röhler disappointed

In the absence of Johannes Vetter, Julian Weber won the title in the javelin throw at the German Championships for track and field athletes. The fourth in the Olympics, who already came in at 89.54 this year, clearly distanced himself from the competition with 86.38 m.

Maurice Voigt (LG Ohra) was nine meters behind in second (77.35). Vice European Champion Andreas Hofmann did not get better than third place and 76.33 m.

Rio Olympic champion and European champion Thomas Röhler had big problems. The man from Erfurt only managed 71.81 m and fifth place. The 30-year-old was even below his weak start of the season of 72.51 m. Röhler is still missing the standards for the upcoming World Championships in Eugene/USA (July 15th to 24th/85.00 m) and the European Championships at home in Munich (15 to 21 August/84.00 m).

Vetter, former world champion and German record holder (97.76) from Offenburg, had withdrawn due to shoulder problems. He has a wild card for the World Cup as the winner of the Diamond League last year. So far this year he has climbed 85.64 m.
