After a mild start to autumn, the arrival of an early winter with a drop in temperatures is expected from the second half of November
The first part of the autumn season was rather mild, but the situation will change dramatically in the second half of November. The weather forecast for the weekend of Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th November 2025 indicate a marked worsening: the cold will soon reach several areas of the country. Intense rain, including thunderstorms, are expected, with temperatures dropping starting in the next few days exception of the South“protected” for a while longer by warmer currents.

Many areas of Italy will be affected by this weekend rains and by a general lowering of temperatures. Weather conditions will worsen significantly especially on Sunday 16 November 2025 and for much of the following week. From Thursday 20 November, the polar air will raid the national territory, bringing a first taste of winter with values well below expected seasonal averages, particularly in the North and Centre. Snow is also expected in the central-northern Apennines and, towards following weekendsnowfall down to low altitudes cannot be ruled out.

On Saturday the disturbance will begin to touch Italy, thanks to an Atlantic depression that is affecting central-western Europe. The bad weather will hit the North and Upper Tuscanywith scattered rains that may also reach the upper Triveneto in the evening. Thunderstorms are expected in the Ligurian East and, from the evening, in the Lombardy Prealps. Rainfall accumulations of up to 50 mm and more are expected in central-eastern Liguria and 30 mm in upper Lombardy. Stable weather is expected in the rest of the territory, with some cloud cover in the central Tyrrhenian regions.
Temperatures will be stable overall, with slight increases in the South and on the major islands. In the North, however, a slight decrease in the rainiest areas.

On Sunday the deterioration will be more marked: the bad weather will be intense from the early hours of the morning in the Northwest, with rain and showers rapidly extending towards Lombardy and Triveneto. Precipitation will be particularly abundant in Liguria, with daily accumulations exceeding 80 mm in the central-western areas and 40–60 mm between lower Piedmont and upper Lombardy. Bad weather also in northern Tuscany. Rain expected in western Sardinia in the evening. Stable weather instead in the South, where temperatures will record a slight increase with peaks of 24°C in eastern Sicily. Elsewhere the highs will remain stable, while the lows will undergo significant downward variations.

From Monday the disturbance will move from the northern regions towards the central onesbringing instability and rain especially on the Tyrrhenian side and Campania. In the northern regions the situation will tend to improve: sunny spells will return in the North-West. High pressure will instead continue to protect the far south and part of the middle Adriatic coast for a few days. Tuesday on unstable flow will also reach the southern regionsfavoring rains and thunderstorms. Finally, Northern Europe is waiting an arctic air massresponsible for a marked drop in temperatures.
