WEATHER REPORT. Great chance of winter precipitation from Tuesday | Weather news

Anyone looking forward to spring weather will have to be patient a little longer. A winter prick is coming, with a high chance of winter precipitation in Flanders, especially from Tuesday. The cooler temperatures are partly a result of the extreme stratospheric warming, confirms David Dehenauw.

“The phenomenon actually took place in two episodes,” the weatherman explains. “The warming we saw around February 15 has been without effect.”

However, a second warm-up took place a little later. The easterly wind in the stratosphere reached the lowest layers of the atmosphere this time, so we now notice the consequences.

Today it will be gray at first, with sometimes some light rain or drizzle. The maxima are between 2 degrees on the High Fens and 6 to 8 degrees elsewhere.

In the evening and night it will remain heavily clouded to overcast with a chance of sometimes light (winter) precipitation from the north, especially in the second half of the night. It will snow lightly in the Ardennes.

Sunday it will be heavily clouded and there will be some winter showers or snow showers in the Ardennes throughout the day. Particularly in the afternoon, some broader clearances can occur. The maxima are around freezing point in the High Fens and between 4 and 7 degrees in Low Belgium.

Monday little changes and it is variable to heavily cloudy with a few showers from the North Sea. In High Belgium there is a chance of freezing fog in the morning with occasional winter showers during the day.

Tuesday a low pressure area is moving over our region. There will be rain in Low and Central Belgium and (melting) snow in High Belgium. At the end of the day, the mercury drops and winter showers may also fall in Lower and Central Belgium. During the night to Wednesday, there will be broad clearance and ice spots may form.

Wednesday it will remain variable to heavily cloudy with a high chance of (winter) precipitation. The maxima are between -1 and 4 degrees.

Thursday and Friday the chance of winter precipitation remains high with maxima between 3 and 5 degrees in the center. However, the uncertainty is quite large due to the lack of clarity about the exact direction of movement of the low-pressure areas. Possibly it could soften a bit, but that has yet to be confirmed.
