Oliebollen: every year we get warm oliebollen from one of the stalls in our city. Over the years, many stalls have been added, but in the past there was not much choice. In the Zoetermeer archives we found two old photos of an oliebollen stall and an advertisement in the newspaper. Watch and see how we enjoyed this traditional delicacy back then.

The photo above is about Romano Jungeling’s oliebollen stall. We see a wooden stall on the square in Dorpsstraat. Romano baked hot oliebollen for hungry Zoetermeer residents. And how nice: it’s snowing! The photo is from the year 1977.

For a guilder

The second photo is of an old advertisement for Heynen’s Snelbuffet from the newspaper in 1970. For one guilder you could buy seven oliebollen. The stall was only open on New Year’s Day from 10am to 7pm. Ordering in advance was not possible, only immediate collection. Also take a look at the snacks, snacks and salads that you could buy.
