Food influencer Mélanie Rezé blindly tasted 11 unseasoned crushed tomatoes – and was properly surprised. One cheap can came as a surprise, but there were also crumbs that tasted almost like vinegar. In this story, you can see the tomato crumble Lions & Sheep and get Rezé’s easy tips. The lineup of eleven crushed tomatoes looks the same at first glance: red, soft, familiar. In the test, 11 unseasoned crushed tomatoes were taken and tasted at room temperature, so that the taste and texture are revealed without “softening the pot”. Differences were found especially in the texture, sweetness and amount of acid: one bowl has almost ready soup, the other has a watery sauce base – and together the taste overshoots so much that the chef is forced to make corrections.
