The party has avoided commenting on what happened so far

We can charge against PSOE and PP for the scandal of buying votes in Melilla and Mojácar. The party, which has avoided ruling on this issue in recent days, is now using it to stand as the only alternative to bipartisanshipafter the arrest of several socialist leaders in the town of Almería and the complaints crossed with the popular ones.

At a rally in Murcia, the general secretary of Podemos, Ione Belarrahas made a direct allusion to the purchase of votes, after the leader of the PP himself, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has harshly criticized the PSOE for this matter. Far from sharing the theses of the popular, the Minister of Social Rights has taken the opportunity to equate the two main forces and position Podemso as the guarantee for “put an end to the corruption. “Surely you have heard the news about vote buying in Melilla, in Mojácar…”, the leader began.

“This example perfectly reveals that this political space continues to be the only alternative to bipartisanship and that we are only going to put an end to corruption when Podemos is very strong”, continued Belarra, who has placed at the same level to socialists and popular. “We need to break with bipartisanship in all corners of this country (…), because corrupt practices have been part of the way of doing bipartisanship”.

At this point, he added that “that only began to change with the 15M and with this political force, who dared to say what no one else dares to say in this country& rdquor ;. Vote buying in Mojácar and Melilla from migrant voters with few resources had not had an official reaction from Podemos until today.

If PSOE or PP have shown their commitment to reinforce the guarantees in the Electoral Law to prevent this type of practice, from Podemos they point out that to this day they do not have any proposal in this regard. A unusual low profile in purple formationwhere they try to prevent migrant groups from being criminalized, after the vote-buying network tried to capture people with few resources.

The main allusion to the case in recent hours has consisted in pointing out the alliance of Iñigo Errejón with Coalition for Melilla, group allegedly involved and whose counselor was arrested in the framework of the judicial investigation and dismissed from office. Along with him, other members of the candidacy of this party were arrested. “If this happened to Podemos, newscasts would open,” they lamented this Wednesday from the party, where they have taken advantage of the case to intensify their attacks on two of Yolanda Díaz’s main allies.

The International area of Podemos released a statement on Tuesday in which, without specifically pronouncing on the scandal, they did denounce the “abandonment of Melilla” and ensured that this situation was paid for by “the policies of violence and discrimination” bdeployed in the border city with Morocco. In this sense, the party criticizes that “Violence and discrimination policies replace welfare policies& rdquor ;, causing “impoverishment and lack of confidence in politics & rdquor ;, something that “It facilitates the appearance of these situations & rdquor ;.
