The president of the RFEF, proud of the triumph of the U-17 team in the last World Cup

“You are the inspiration of many girls in Spain,” said Rubiales about the players of the Spanish team

Luis Rubialespresident of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, considered during the reception for the U-17 world champions that took place in the Ciudad del Fútbol de Las Rozas that the RFEF is “the best women’s football training federation in the world “.

“There is no federation that in the last four World Championships for women’s lower categories has won three and has been second in the fourth. Nor that of the last four Europeans he has won three and has been second in the other”, he explained.

“We are the best women’s football training federation in the world. That is thanks to the talent, the effort of the families, the effort of the most humble clubs and federations. They are world champions with you, “he added during his intervention in the act.

Rubiales began by congratulating the players: “I want to congratulate everyone. I’m very excited, probably because I’m a father. I put myself in the shoes of relatives, coming and going, getting up early… and they look very proud . You have made your families, the federation, all of Spanish football and all of Spain happy. You are the milk.

“With eleven Spanish players committed on the field, the one in front has it very difficult. Some of you will reach the absolute and it will be a pride that you remember those moments with your parents, grandparents taking you to train with cold, with rain… remember this day as the beginning of something very beautiful”, he said.

Likewise valued the work carried out by the body he presides over in defense of women’s football: “When we arrived and sat down, one of the pillars we wanted to build was women’s football. We had several meetings and in some of them with Jorge Vilda and Rafa del Amo we started planning the future of the teams”.

In that sense, he explained: “Almost all federations, 211 in the world, usually have 4 or 5 national teams. We have seven. When I arrived we had nine technicians. Jorge Vilda told me that an effort had to be made and we went to 18. An academic effort had to be made and we hired a tutor for the men’s and women’s teams.”

“We had to create a women’s football department four and a half years ago, there wasn’t one. We went from having expenses of 4 million euros to spending 25 million euros on women’s football. Doctors, physiotherapists, nutritionists… with the absolute thirty-five people were traveling and now almost fifty,” he continued.

All this, in his opinion, is bearing fruit: “When Jorge took the absolute national team he was eighteen or nineteen and now we are sixth in the world ranking. We set ourselves the goal of entering the top five in 2024-2026 to be at the level of playing a semi-final or a final, although football is not mathematics. We went from having two women’s football sponsors to eleven”.

“The players start in humble clubs. When we arrived there were 60,000 licenses. After a pandemic we are on our way to 100,000. These triumphs are very useful for many girls to want to be like you, you are an inspiration for many girls in Spain”complete.
