Watford FC have found a successor just a day after splitting up with Claudio Ranieri. As the “Hornets” announced, former England coach Roy Hodgson is returning from retirement after six months and is supposed to save the Premier League club, which is penultimate in the table with 14 points from 20 games, from relegation.
Hodgson is the third Watford coach this season after Ranieri and his predecessor Xisco Muñoz. At 74, he is the second oldest manager in the top 15 leagues. The Englishman ended his career after four seasons at Crystal Palace last summer but has not ruled out the possibility of a comeback. Previously, he was in charge of Liverpool FC, Fulham FC, Inter Milan and the national teams of Switzerland and Finland.

Watford FC parted ways with Ranieri on Monday after just three and a half months. The 70-year-old Italian, who once led Leicester City to the championship, averaged just 0.5 points from 14 games. Ranieri was a man “of great integrity and honor who will always be respected at Vicarage Road,” the club said after the release.
We are delighted to confirm the appointment of Roy Hodgson as the club’s manager.
