Our taps increasingly contain drinking water that contains more PFAS than is strictly speaking healthy for humans. This is evident from figures that opposition party Groen requested from Flemish Minister of the Environment Jo Brouns (CD&V). Drinking water companies recorded exceedances 54 percent more often last year than in 2023. The problem is particularly persistent in certain regions. Groen fears that families will pay for additional treatment costs: “That cannot be the intention. Make the polluters pay.”
