watchOS 9 puts an end to the incorrect battery indicator on Apple Watch

With watchOS 9, Apple has announced a major update for its smartwatches. Older models in particular benefit from a special feature. Here the update puts an end to an annoying error.

With the Apple Watch Series 4 and 5 it can happen that the actual battery level is no longer displayed correctly. Those affected have the problem in Apple forum already thoroughly discussed. Now the manufacturer has reacted and announced a solution for the incorrect battery display on the Apple Watch – this is called watchOS 9.

The update for the Apple Watch will not be released until September, together with the presentation of the iPhone 14. But the manufacturer revealed most of the new functions at the WWDC 2022 in early June. However, one innovation was not mentioned, which should especially please owners of older Apple Watch models.

watchOS 9 fixes incorrect battery indicator on Apple Watch

As the website “MacRumors” writes, watchOS 9 delivers a new recalibration function for the Apple Watch Series 4 and Series 5. Corresponding references to the function can be found in the release notes of the update. It should therefore recalibrate the Apple Watch and thus correct the incorrect battery display. Users then have an overview of how large the power reserve of their watch is.

Apple first introduced the recalibration feature for the iPhone 11 to make iPhone battery life estimates more accurate. It was delivered in April 2021 with the update to iOS 14.5. However, a similar function was previously missing for the Apple Watch. As MacRumors goes on to say, users don’t even have to actively do anything to fix the Apple Watch’s incorrect battery indicator. Because the process of recalibration should take place during the update and be completed after the installation.
