Dylan Strome assisted three goals in the game against Montreal. But this night will be unforgettable for him for another reason.

Almost half an hour after the faceoff (kick-off) between the Washington Capitals and Canadiens de Montréal (8:4) in the National Hockey League (NHL), Dylan Strome became a father again. The ice hockey player was on the field when his third daughter was born. “While the first period was going on, my hero of a wife gave birth to our third child. I’m really proud of her,” Strome said after the game through tears of joy.

His wife Tayler “felt” something about two hours before the game started. However, Strome himself thought “that maybe I would make it home in time. Of course that wasn’t the case,” he continued. Sutton Kimberley was born at 7:30 p.m.

“It’s hard. You always want to be there when your children are born. I didn’t know it would happen so quickly,” the 28-year-old struggled for words: “But I can hardly wait to see them.” Strome and Tayler gave birth to daughter Weslie in March 2021, followed by Emerson in September 2023. “Another girl. Things are about to get crazy in this house,” said Strome. The couple has been married since 2022.

Despite the private excitement, the professional showed a strong performance on the ice: he prepared three goals in his Capitals’ 8-4 win against Montreal. Star player Alex Ovechkin, who shone with three goals of his own, praised his teammate: “I think ‘Stromer’ felt it from the first third. That’s pretty cool, a big day for him and his family. He was unstoppable today.”
