When Robert Jensen once again shouted somewhere that the earth might be flat, the outside world felt vicarious shame for his brother Frank Dane, who is very mainstream with his 538 job. Justifiably?
It was a huge contrast: Robert Jensen who continuously criticized the established order on his conspiracy site, including everyone at the Media Park, and his brother Frank Dane who was cuddling with the established order all the time on the radio. How did that relate to each other? Was Frank ashamed of Robert’s talk?
Earth round?
Robert Jensen has become a completely different man in no time. Where he used to make cheeky TV talk shows and interview all kinds of celebrities with a wink, he suddenly radicalized during the corona period into someone who very much believed in all kinds of conspiracies. At one point he even wondered whether the earth was really round.
Some bemused presenters of NPO Radio 1 have asked Frank about this. “Are you talking to him about that?” he said. And Frank then: “Of course. My brothers are perhaps my best friends. I see them a lot, we call a lot. Sometimes we don’t for a while, but we really talk about everything, yes.”
Daan tells
That third brother, Daan Jensen, now reveals in the Story that the whole family thought a bit like Robert. His fierce resistance to corona vaccines was also very much felt by the rest of the family, says Daan.
Daan loves how Robert resisted society on his conspiracy site. “I was impressed by that. During the corona period, dissidents were treated unfairly. Robert wanted to stand up for those people.”
‘We agreed’
The whole family supported Robert, says Daan. “I shared Robert’s views, we recently discussed that. I completely agreed with him. If you saw how people talked about the unvaccinated at the time: that was unworthy of a democracy.”
The Jensens felt treated unequally. “Articles even appeared saying that we should lose our jobs! I’m talking about we, because my father Frank and I have not been vaccinated either.”
Dearest boy
All in all, the Jensens were not ashamed of Robert. “I will remember Robert as the sweetest boy there was. People usually don’t have that image of him. Robert has always been good to us.”
“The fact that our father, Frank and I look back on Robert with such a good feeling is to his credit. I think the feeling of pride for him will only become stronger for us…”
