Everton FC have secured the services of centre-back James Tarkowski. The 29-year-old has been among the top ten most valuable unemployed players since July 1, with a market value of €22m after his tenure at Burnley expired. The Englishman has now signed a long-term contract with the “Toffees” until 2026 and is the first new signing for coach Frank Lampard for the coming season.
“I’m thrilled to have joined Everton. It’s a great club. I’m really looking forward to the years to come and I’m grateful for the opportunity I’ve been given,” Tarkowski said. “It was very important to speak to the manager to see what he expects from his players and his team, what he sees in me and why he wanted to sign me. Talking to Kevin Thelwell (Director of Professional Football, ed.) was also an important factor.”
