Warming-up against Benfica leads to Pasveer and Gorter injuries

The Champions League match against Benfica has left a sour aftertaste for Ajax. Goalkeepers Remko Pasveer and Jay Gorter were injured during the warm-up before the match. That is why André Onana will be under the bar tomorrow against Go Ahead Eagles.

“It was the last ball of the warm-up”, outlines Pasveer on the website of the Amsterdammers. “With shots like that, the players and I put each other on edge. That ball didn’t land well on my finger, that happens often. Then it’s a matter of tape around it and through.”

Gorter had already injured his thumb before this. Despite his injury, Pasveer played the full ninety minutes at Ajax. “After the game and late at night in the hotel, the pain increased and my finger had also become a lot thicker. I am very disappointed because we are in a good series and play many matches in a row which are all important” , says Pasveer.

For the time being, both goalies are not available, Ajax reports. More clarity is expected after the weekend. The team from Amsterdam will play in Deventer tomorrow afternoon from 4.45 pm.
