But Waregem Koerse is all about top sport. For the first time, the prize pool is half a million euros, thanks in part to the support of the UAE President’s Cup. “That places us alongside major events in Russia, Saudi Arabia and America,” says Bram Vandewalle van Waregem Koerse. “It is a recognition with an international appearance, and that attracts top jockeys.”
The Great Steeple Chase of Flanders promises to be exciting again. The numbers one and two of last year, Placenet and Gino des Dunes, are again at the start. “Trainer Patrice Quinton is out for revenge,” the organization sounds. “He won in 2021, finished second last year, and is now aiming for victory again.”
In addition to the horse racing, the ‘Charity Run’ also remains a crowd puller. Well-known names such as Georges-Louis Bouchez, Nicky Nuyens and Andy Peelman take a seat in the Sulky’s this year.
Focus & WTV will broadcast Waregem Koerse live on Tuesday 2 September from 3:55 pm!
