Luminus wants to place a wind turbine between the De Biest district and the highway, about 400 meters from the first homes. The planned wind turbine would have a tip height of 230 meters. This encounters fierce resistance from the local residents, who fear noise pollution and nuisance due to drop shadow.
After receiving 175 objections, the city of Waregem issued a negative advice on the application. The city council believes that the impact on the living environment is too great.
