The elections in Moorslede were won by Sterk with figurehead Sherley Beernaert, but due to a complaint from N-VA Plus she could not yet become mayor. This is now possible on January 6, after the Council for Electoral Disputes rejected the complaint. Ward Vergote, who has been suspended until January 1 for a conflict of interest, will take over the sash from Nessim Ben Driss again during those six days.
Ward Vergote: “I think it is easiest to take on that task yourself, otherwise a number of formalities will have to be completed. I enjoy doing it, it’s not that I avoid it.”
