Confusion everywhere on the Marseillepad in Zoetermeer. Since the construction of a new cycle path and a new footpath, hikers and cyclists have lost their way. Not literally, but it is unclear where cycled and where you can walk.

The low -lying path is yellow to orange -colored, the high -lying path has dark colored stones. The layer of sand on the paving stones does not make it clearer. Because of this uncertainty, people walk on both paths and cyclists sometimes change track. Indebuurt early explanation to the municipality.
Not clear enough
Usually cycle paths are red, and hiking trails have a different color. The municipality of Zoetermeer apparently thought differently when determining the design. “In our opinion, the cycle path is well designed. It has beautiful stones and meets all the safety requirements. In our opinion, the interior also made clear where cycling and where can you be walked. But the cycle path does not appear to be as clear as thought,” says a press spokesperson.
Walk on the left, bike right
Just to be clear: the yellow-orange-colored path along the water is intended for pedestrians, and the path with dark stones along the houses is for cyclists. After the festive opening of both paths on March 22, the municipality received many questions about the use. “We saw in practice that there was some uncertainty. That is why we looked at additional measures and we will soon adjust a number of things.”
What those adjustments are? The cycle path will soon get a clear marking with street nails. In addition, the municipality places traffic signs. The job must be done in a few weeks.
