Waiting list for new kidney never before: “We are going to use the Dutch system”

1,203 patients were on the waiting list for a kidney transplant at the end of last year. There were never so many before. And yet there is also good news: nephrologist Steven van Laecke (UZ Gent) is convinced that there can be a catch -up movement that can shorten the waiting lists quickly. “And compared to the 90s, donor animals also last twice as long.”
