Franz Wagner and Tristan da Silva led the Orlando Magic to their opening win of the new season in the NBA.
Orlando won 125:121 against the Miami Heat. Alongside Paolo Banchero, Wagner was his team’s top scorer with 24 points and also led Orlando with six assists. Da Silva, a substitute player in Orlando as well as in the German national team, scored 16 points in just 18 minutes of playing time. Moritz Wagner is currently in rehab after a torn cruciate ligament.
Magic catches up in the final phase
The favored Magic team seemed to be losing touch at the beginning of the fourth quarter when Miami suddenly pulled ahead by eight points in the close game. But a successful floater from da Silva in the follow-up got the home team back on track. With strong nerves at the free throw line, Orlando finally brought home the victory.
“It definitely wasn’t our best game in defense”said Wagner after the match. “But it was important for us to see that we all have to stay fully focused. You never know who can win you the game in the end.”
