VZV continues to convert in Europe, Fighting SEW eliminated with its head held high

Despite a small defeat in Finland, VZV has qualified for the third round of the European Cup. The handball players from ‘t Veld lost 26-24 to the Finnish Dicken, but had already built up a large margin last week. SEW faced a tough job against Lugi Dam from Sweden. At home, the North Hollanders won 31-29, but that turned out not to be enough to continue in Europe.

The team of trainer Rolf Schulte von last week in-house with large numbers. VZV was then too strong for the Finnish handball players with 22-13. “This was really very good,” said Schulte after the home game. In Helsinki, VZV never ran into problems this afternoon. Dicken had to win by nine goals, which turned out to be an almost impossible task given last week’s game.

SEW

SEW faced a difficult task to reach the next round in Europe. Last week the handball players from NIbbixwoud lost 31-23 to Lugi Dam from Sweden. In De Bloesem, the team of coach Michael Vijverberg had to win by at least eight goals difference.

The home team gave Lugi Dam quite a challenge. A few beautiful hits from the left gave SEW a lead for a long time. It was feared beforehand that SEW would be cannon fodder for the Swedish handball players, but to everyone’s surprise, the North Hollanders went into halftime with a narrow 17-16 lead.

After the break, the game went back and forth and the two teams stayed close to each other. However, SEW did not give in and played a great game. The home team won 31-29, but that was not enough to reach the next round.
